Alan left a bit Tongue-tied!

Canberra has truly become the NRL's most forgettable and ignored club with the overlooking of in-form lock Alan Tongue from test squad selection. The tenacious and ever-improving forward who many deem as the heart and soul of the Raiders team, as well as a future captain with the departing of club legend Clinton Shifcofske, broke the NRL tackling record this season previously held by Richard Swain (1040). To add to this amazing feat, Tongue also scored more tries than any other forward in the competition. Canberra broke their drought of representative selected players this year with the inclusion of Adam Mogg and Clinton Shifcofske in the Queensland Origin side. It was a move that was viewed by many critics as risky with the pair being relatively untested at Origin level (Shifcofske played on the wing for the Maroons in 2002), but a move that came up trumps with the duo performing extremely well (Mogg scored 3 tries in 2 games). It is ludicruos to think that despite making the finals, the Raiders were unable to have even one of their players rewarded for a good years effort (the Raiders were firm favourites for the Wooden Spoon), whilst teams which performed poorly were able to boast several Test hopefuls. The exclusion of Alan Tongue from the Test arena will be to the detrament of the Australian team; the only lock who has come close to performing better than Tongue this year is Queensland incumbent Dallas Johnson who will surely be named as Australian Lock.
Let me know what you think. Should Alan Tongue at least have been named in the Australian train-on squad for this years Tri-Nations?
